V-Cableway

The Grindelwald-Männlichen gondola lift (GGM) and Jungfrau Railways realized a V-cableway that provides access to both the Eiger Glacier and Männlichen. From a joint terminal in Grindelwald Grund, a 3S lift leads to the Eiger Glacier and a ten-person gondola lift to Männlichen. The new Rothenegg station on the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB) provides the V-Bahn with a connection to public transport. Travel times to the Jungfraujoch and the ski area will be significantly reduced by 47 minutes. With its eight integrated components, the V-Bahn project is a project for the entire Jungfrau Region and pursues the main goals of quality and future.

Project
The order comprised three sub-areas. Firstly, the facade. This had to withstand a large number of different influences. In order to cope with these, a post-and-beam system was used. The connection from the parking garage to the valley station is realized by a passerelle. This is also designed as a post-and-beam system. The skylight, known as the “Gletscherspalte”, provides sufficient brightness inside the building.
